S.... here are some referal answer to you... .This is a major turning point in your life, and doing so will be life-changing – in a good way. You see “weed” or marijuana can ruin or inhibit your life as it did to many people. Sure, marijuana is not as potently dangerous as cocaine or heroin or ice, but nevertheless it can cause you damage. Marijuana may not cause heart disease or cancer as much as smoking does, but it can incapacitate you. All in all, smoking weed will do you no good.

In fact, it can bring you much harm. It can deprive you of well-being and a good quality of life. So deciding to quit smoking weed is one of the best decisions you can ever make. In your journey to stop smoking weed, the following tips and insights may be useful. First thing to be successful in your goal is you must understand your addiction. You might be wondering why you are addicted to marijuana. Cigarettes contain chemicals like nicotine which make a person addicted to them. This would lead to them having physical cravings to smoke. Marijuana contains no such chemicals.

Maybe you have finally come to a point when you said “I should stop smoking weed”.

Smoking pot, gives you a temporary high yet leaves you unhealthier and stupider every time you smoke it.

People say it's not as bad as other drugs, and they're right ... it's not as bad as cocaine, heroine or meth, but it's still pretty bad, especially if you become a stoner and use is regularly over time.

Don't listen to all those idiotic persons who tell you that pot isn't bad for you, they are DREAMING!!! They are so in denial, even when medical science has proven time and again that pot affects the body in a big way. Maybe these morons are ok now, but I'd like to see them in a few years, when they are in a hospital hooked up to some breathing machine. These jokers who tell you to smoke pot haven't come to terms with THEIR DRUG ADDICTION. YES, ITS A DRUG ADDICTION. I think that you have better sense than to listen to these idiots ... I am guessing that is why you are asking about the effects of pot in the first place.

Please be good to your body ... if you continue, when you get older you will surely regret killing your brain, oxidizing your cells and making yourself forgetful and stupid. Also, if you plan on having kids, just think about all of the harmful chemicals you are putting into your body - you are affecting your eggs ... these are the same eggs from which your child will be born ... you never make new ones ... every drug that you take adversely affects the quality of your eggs/fertility. Let the other idiots kill themselves and mess up their fertility without you.

I've had a LOT of experience with pot in my line of work. See some of the effects of pot below.

Gives you emphysema, bronchitis, lung cancer, mouth cancer, throat cancer, other kinds of cancer and all that other bad stuff that smoking gives you. Marijuana joints and smoking through a pipe don't even offer a filter, as does a regular cigarette. There are more carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) in pot than there are in cigarettes!

It strains your heart and blood vessels - makes your heart rate and blood pressure go up. Can cause heart attacks and stroke.

A common reaction to pot is acute panic anxiety reaction or paranoia.

It is psychologically addictive - people have a hard time limiting their use and need more of the drug to get the same effect the more it is smoked.

Affects STM - Short Term Memory. When you're stoned, you forget all kinds of things. Eventually, if you smoke enough, you'll talk super slow, like your stoner friends, and your brain will be so f****d up, that you won't be able to remember LOTS of things.

People lose interest in doing things - they have no motivation after a while - all they want to do is lie around and smoke pot.

Regular pot smokers have impaired learning; that is, impaired thinking, reading comprehension and verbal and mathematical skills. Research shows that students do not remember what they have learned when they are high.

Pot affects driving ability; reflexes are slowed, ability to stay within the lines through curves, ability to brake quickly is affected as well as the ability to maintain speed and the proper distance between cars. This reminds me of a girl I knew ... she got stopped on the freeway because she was stoned and driving WAY under the speed limit - she was stoned and paranoid.

"Burnout" is a term first used by marijuana smokers themselves to describe the effect of prolonged use. Young people who smoke marijuana heavily over long periods of time can become dull, slow moving, and inattentive. These "burned-out" users are sometimes so unaware of their surroundings that they do not respond when friends speak to them, and they do not realize they have a problem.

Effects on Daily Life
Research clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person’s existing problems worse. In one study, heavy marijuana abusers reported that the drug impaired several important measures of life achievement including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status. Several studies associate workers’ marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers’ compensation claims, and job turnover.

Some of the common side effects of marijuana are:

Trouble remembering things
Sleepiness
Anxiety
Paranoia
Altered time perception

Physical Adverse Effects of Marijuana
Dry mouth
Nausea
Headache
Tremor
Decreased coordination Increased heart rate
Altered pulmonary status
Altered body temperature
Reduced muscle strength
Decreased cerebral blood flow
Increased food consumption

Neuropsychiatric Adverse Effects of Marijuana

Anxiety and panic
Paranoia
Confusion
Aggressiveness
Hallucinations
Sedation
Altered libido Possible suicidal ideation
Depersonalization
Derealization
Poor sense of time
Worsened short-term memory
Addictive behaviors
Amotivational syndrome

Well weed does a lot to a persons body.

1. You tend to move slower and thing slower.
2. Some of the things you think of are really deep things which who knows maybe the newton was stoned when he was hit in the head with the apple and found gravity.
3.Cigs are really more harmful to the body then pot. there is rat poison in cigs.
4. there are many good things about pot as well.
    a. It is a painkiller.
    b.It is an anti-depressant
c.it is safer than a beer.
5. you loose brain cells smoking pot although you loose them drinking a beer or hitting your head or breathing the air in NYC or LA.
so its your choice on to smoke it or not.

Hmmm, well all the girls I know that smoke a lot of weed end up getting kinda squishy if you know what I mean. Munchies will do that to you. Oh, and it smells gross and turns your teeth yellow. It basically makes you look terrible overall. I've seen athletic, pretty girls get really ugly pretty fast. Things seem fine when your a teenager, but once you hit your mid to late twenties your body cannot keep up. Of course its bad for your lungs, its smoke. It takes a while for a person to develope cancer from it though. In the mean time you get fat and smelly.

Yes, inhaling anything into your lungs can damage them. Habitual use can cause memory problems, sleeping problems and anxiety. People will tell you it is not addictive but if you are prone to addiction it can happen, otherwise there would not be a marijuana anonymous.

You already know....but, worse than cigarettes, IDK. Depends on how many smokes per day. I gave up on pot 15 yrs ago, yet I smoke a pack an' a half of Camels everyday.

Yep, pot will slow ya down, for sure.

It's classified as a medicine though. Who knows?

It definately will slow you down and make you forget everything. It also makes you have and "I dont care attitude." Everything is just peachy kean when youre high. It also does affect the lungs and stains your teeth. It has also been proven to be the onset of several mental disorders... i.e. panic attack disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, and depersonalization disorder. My advice to you would be to stop smoking weed if you are. Its not worth it! Besides, most places now a days drug test, its pricey, and there can be many consequences if you get caught by the cops.

Lung Cancer.

And it's not "natural" to burn it and smoke it. It's only natural as a plant. By this logic, everything is "natural" since it had to come from the earth somehow.

Smoking weed will indeed severely impair your respiratory system if used for a prolonged time. It also damages brain cells. I would suggest to not smoke weed ever, not only to you, but to everyone. If you're thinking about it, you have to remember to BE SMART. You have to pay attention to your life and you can't let Pot take over your mind. That's what it does to most people.

Yes it has 6x more tar but.... it doesn't cause cancer! Wanna know why? The particles created by combustion are larger than those of tobacco combustion and u cough them out! Its the small particles that get lodged in your lungs and cause cancer!

Don't let people tell u it ruins ur brain it doesn't! I have a 3.6 undergraduate gpa and I smoke pot. My dad is a lobbyist who makes 70k a month and he smokes alot. My uncle is an MD who smokes pot maybe once a month but he did it alot during undergraduate!

The only consequences involve the law because it is wrongfully illegal!

Marijuana is safer to smoke than tobacco cigarettes.
People under the influence of marijuana are much more pleasant and responsive than people who drink alcohol.
I would smoke weed everyday if it was legal.

Lots of the people I know that are potheads have gotten a lot stupider over the years. Like in class, they're not as sharp as they used to be. Honestly, I'd just avoid it at all costs. May as well not risk losing your intelligence, lungs, and bright white teeth over.

uhh...being high

THE BIGGEST ERROR IN THAT SENTENCE IS THAT SOMETHING THAT IS NATURAL IS OK/SAFE! That is simply not true. Just because it isn't a prescription drug doesn't mean it is not a drug. This does not only apply to marijuana. Something like that still has physiological effects but the result is much less predictable because each plant has different doses of the drug depending on the conditions in which it is grown. Also because of the lack of knowledge that doctors and patients have on natural medicines it can be often dangerous because of adverse effects of mixing with other medications. Think about this when purchasing any natural product.

So back to weed.

The mind:
Marijuana use reduces learning ability. Research has been piling up of late demonstrating clearly that marijuana limits the capacity to absorb and retain information. A 1995 study of college students discovered that the inability of heavy marijuana users to focus, sustain attention, and organize data persists for as long as 24 hours after their last use of the drug. Earlier research, comparing cognitive abilities of adult marijuana users with non-using adults, found that users fall short on memory as well as math and verbal skills.

The Body:
Chronic marijuana smokers are prey to chest colds, bronchitis, emphysema, and bronchial asthma. Persistent use will damage lungs and airways and raise the risk of cancer. There is just as much exposure to cancer-causing chemicals from smoking one marijuana joint as smoking five tobacco cigarettes. And there is evidence that marijuana may limit the ability of the immune system to fight infection and disease.

Marijuana also affects hormones. Regular use can delay the onset of puberty in young men and reduce sperm production. For women, regular use may disrupt normal monthly menstrual cycles and inhibit ovulation. When pregnant women use marijuana, they run the risk of having smaller babies with lower birth weights, who are more likely than other babies to develop health problems. Some studies have also found indications of developmental delays in children exposed to marijuana before birth.

OK SO WHOEVER IS GIVING THE THUMBS DOWN TO PEOPLE WHO GIVE REAL ANSWERS BE OUR GUEST AND LIVE IN IGNORANCE IT IS ONLY TO YOUR DETRIMENT
