What is the solution of the smoking epidemic in England?

Paula asked:

The rate of smoking cigarettes and other tobacco products in England and the UK has been stable for over 10 years already with about 25% smokers in the whole society. What can we do as a society to help lower the rates?

We have tried different social and individual interventions but most were not completely effective. Should we consider policies that work on the youth and teenagers to prevent them starting smoking? how can we do so?

Would you consider a policy of total ban of smoking and selling of Tobacco in the UK? why yes an why not?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

I thought smoking had gone down. However, I see a lot of the young still smoking, especially girls.

They just know don’t they. It will never happen to them, wrinkly skin, heart trouble, bad breath, maybe lose a leg from thrombosis, can’t breath without oxygen.

Well they should go and have a look at some people it has happened to.

It’s an ongoing topic. I can’t offer any solutions.

Yeah sure. Ban everything. Don’t forget beer. Exhaust. The rubber dust flying off cops bicycle wheels. Major threat. War, poverty and crime are cool, just don’t like a cigarette.
